Here are some of the key skills that you should look for in your receptionist.

  • Good with technology – businesses use a variety of different technology items including hardware and software and it is important that your receptionist is aware of these or is competent at being able to pick up new technology well.

  • Communication skills – these skills are essential and will be used across telephones, emails and in person. They should be able to communicate in a clear and concise manner as well as being professional through and through.
  • Organised – being able to multitask and manage their own workload is imperative as receptionists often have to undertake a number of different tasks all at once. They may be required to book meeting rooms or staff accommodation whilst answering the telephone and booking in any visitors who attend the office.
