Six packing tips when sending something by courier

If you need to send something via courier, it should be in safe hands; however, just in case, here are six ways you can help your package arrive at its destination safely.

Structure

Your item needs an appropriate outer shell to protect it from any knocks and scrapes it may come by on its journey. If you are using a good same day courier Leicester, such as https://allaboutfreight.co.uk/same-day-courier/leicester, this shouldn’t be an issue.
Waterproofing

Cardboard boxes are a good starting point to give structure, but cardboard is not waterproof. You may also want to consider a film or plastic bag wrapping. Some items, such as books, may not need a structure; in this case, plastic wrapping alone is fine.

Inside padding

Bubble wrap is a great way to add padding, either around an item or to fill empty spaces in a box. You can also include other space fillers, such as shredded paper or packing peanuts, or cardboard structures to hold the item in place.

The address

Make sure the address of the destination is legible and written in permanent marker so it won’t rub or wash off. Don’t forget to include the return address in case there are any issues.

Reuse

Many of us will have spare cardboard boxes and bubble wrap lying around from our own home deliveries. It is worth saving these whenever you receive them, and you can fold the boxes down to reduce space. Recycling boxes is cheaper and better for the environment.

Recycle

Try to use recyclable plastic and boxes where possible. Many types of bubble wrap are recyclable. Lots of retailers, such as John Lewis, are now packaging large items, such as furniture, completely in cardboard wrapping.
