The story of the passover

In the Springtime those of the Jewish faith come together to celebrate the Passover. What is the story behind this most special of rituals? Why are there Seder Plates, like those from //cazenovejudaica.com/uk/seder-plate for example, on the table with parsley and lamb on the menu. The answer is from the land of ancient Egypt. People are enslaved there and there is little chance of them escaping and returning to their home land. They were forced to come to Israel in search of food and shelter as their own land was ravaged with drought and famine. The Egyptians welcomed the Jews, at first, and soon asked them to use their expertise at building and the rest as servants. The Pharaoh was scared they would live and join Egypts many enemies

Rescue was on its way. The saviour came in the shape of Moses. After being chosen by God as his emissary, he went to Pharaoh and asked him to release the Jews and allow them to leave. Pharaoh refused so Yahweh sent ten plagues to convince the Pharaoh to release them. First it was water into blood, then Frogs, next Lice, Flies, ill animals, boils, a thunderstorm of fireballs, Locusts (who ate what was left) 3 days of complete darkness and finally the worst plague was the tenth.

Jews were told to paint some lamb’s blood on their door frames. The Angel of death came to the land and took the firstborn of every family, save for the Jews who it spared. Finally Pharorah consented to let the people go.
