Ensure the pallet is suitable to use for the goods

All items should be securely fastened to the pallet for health and safety. The pallet should also be able to comfortably bear the weight of the goods intended for transportation.

The items should not extend beyond the edge of the pallet, nor should they be stacked haphazardly or too high. All loose items should be secured neatly to avoid any movement during transportation and any protruding nails should be removed to ensure the safety of workers handling the pallets.

How do I choose a good transport company?

If you require a company to ship your goods, you could ask business colleagues for recommendations. A company that they have trust in and one that has built up a solid reputation in the industry is a good choice.

Ensure that the company understands your requirements and has a good reputation in the sector. If you deal in fresh food and require transportation, then choose a company that has experience in refrigeration and is compliant with Food Safety Regulations

Pack and label the goods clearly for transportation

Loading and unloading the goods is a physical job and the packaging may hit against the edges of the containers. Boxes should not be filled so much that they will open when handled.
